Mandatory vaccination against covid-19 is being introduced in the Komi Republic for civil servants, catering workers, transport workers and a number of other industries , the regional Ministry of HEALTH reports.

“A meeting of the republican headquarters to counteract the spread of a new CORONAVIRUS infection was held, where we made a very important decision on mandatory vaccination for decreed population groups,” said Vladimir Uyba, HEAD of the region, earlier. According to the regional Ministry of Health, mandatory vaccination in Komi will affect state and municipal employees; employees of the public catering industry, municipal, transport, household sphere and medical organizations; people involved in the upbringing and education of children; employees of the postal service, financial institutions, multifunctional centers, cultural, leisure and sports institutions.

About 94 thousand people belong to these categories in Komi.

According to the Komi Ministry of Health, 107.8 thousand people have completed vaccination in the region. Of these, 50.9 thousand are citizens over 60 years old.

Over the past day, 251 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the region, the total number of infected has reached 47.8 thousand. 1,040 people died from COVID-19 during the pandemic.

Over the past month, the country has seen an increase in the incidence of coronavirus. Due to the increase in the number of cases, Russian regions began to introduce mandatory vaccination. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin decided to vaccinate at least 60% of employees in a number of areas with the first dose of the vaccine by July 15, and by August 15 with the second dose.
