According to the Global Justice Now website, activists are advocating that pharmaceutical companies suspend patent rights to the COVID-19 vaccine and share the vaccine technology with the World HEALTH Organization so that it is available to all people.

The photo, shared by Global Justice Now on their official Twitter account, shows several activists sitting at the door of the company and two other young people standing on the roof holding a banner.

“Scientists at the University of Oxford, a publicly funded institution, developed this life-saving vaccine through research that was 97% publicly funded. Everyone should have access to the resulting vaccine, but AstraZeneca took possession of it and privatized it. Britain is enjoying all the benefits of highly effective vaccines, they are available, but people in poor countries are dying by the thousands from COVID-19, ”Exspress, the DIRECTOR of Global Justice Now, quoted Nick Dearden in a statement.

"AstraZeneca likes to portray itself as the good guys," he said, but the company "has boycotted attempts to pool knowledge about the vaccines it controls, like all other pharmaceutical giants."

Previously, the issue of uneven access of different countries to vaccines was raised at the UN. Thus, the Secretary General of the organization, António Guterres, has repeatedly said that the CORONAVIRUS pandemic revealed the problem of the lack of international solidarity, he criticized rich countries for “vaccine nationalism”.

WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus also called for vaccines to be viewed as a "global public good" available to every inhabitant of the planet.
