The traffic police proposed to check couriers-cyclists for knowledge of traffic rules

It is necessary to work out the issue of introducing a rule in the legislation obliging delivery services to check couriers on bicycles for knowledge of traffic rules. This was stated by the head of the Moscow traffic police department Alexander Bykov on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

“Statistics show that this category [couriers on bicycles] often violates the rules of the road, including getting into an accident. Probably, it will now be necessary to work out the issue of legislative consolidation of a norm that will oblige representatives of organizations, including to accept the rules of the road for persons delivering food on bicycles, ”explained Bykov.

In September last year, the delivery service Delivery Club has already introduced a new testing system for hiring, in which potential couriers are tested for knowledge of traffic rules. A candidate can make no more than two mistakes in the test, otherwise he will have to re-learn the material and be tested.

The company explained that courier routes often pass in busy places, so they decided to include additional safety questions in the tests.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, couriers in Moscow are also required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 . For those who receive the vaccine, Yandex will offer benefits in working with customer orders. Vaccinated couriers will be able to receive and accept new orders earlier than others, and will also have access to scheduled shifts half an hour earlier than everyone else, and will be able to choose the most convenient and profitable delivery area and shift time interval, the company explained.
