State Duma deputy from United Russia Larisa Shoigu died of a stroke, which was provoked by a coronavirus infection, said her colleague on the committee for control and regulation of the lower house, deputy head of the Duma faction of United Russia Raisa Karmazina, RIA Novosti reports.

“They brought me information now that the cause of death was a stroke as a complication of coronavirus. And I just found out about this. There are no more words ... We worked together for several convocations, ”said Karmazina.

Larisa Shoigu is the sister of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin expressed condolences to the family and friends of Deputy Shoigu: "She was a sympathetic and kind person, she always helped those who needed support."

Larisa Shoigu was born in January 1953, graduated from the Tomsk Medical Institute and residency at the 2nd Pirogov Moscow State Medical Institute.
