The Department of Health of Moscow gave advice to cancer patients on vaccination against COVID

Specialists of the Moscow HEALTH Department have developed recommendations for patients with oncology on vaccination against CORONAVIRUS. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the department.

The guidelines emphasize that cancer patients are at increased risk of severe covid-19 and should therefore be vaccinated regardless of the stage of anticancer treatment, which must not be interrupted. As a priority, both patients and doctors who are in direct contact with them should be vaccinated.

“For example, if a patient is scheduled for antitumor therapy, then vaccination should be carried out before the start of treatment, as a rule, one to two weeks in advance; when planning surgical treatment, it is recommended to be vaccinated two weeks in advance or after the patient has fully recovered from surgery. It should be noted that vaccination is not carried out in the acute and terminal stages of the disease, and in cases of bone marrow transplantation, experts recommend vaccination in two to six months, ”the message says.

They also clarified that after vaccination in patients with oncology, the risk of developing and severe complications of COVID-19 is reduced. The department added that the Moscow experience of vaccinating such patients shows safety and high efficiency in the form of immunity formation.
