
A vaccine developed in Russia designed to protect adolescents aged 12-17 from COVID-19 has received registration from the Ministry of Health. This was stated by Denis Logunov, deputy head of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology.
“Today, permission has been received to use Sputnik in the pediatric population, the vaccine has received registration, we can share this joyful fact,” Logunov said.
The vaccine is not yet mentioned in the State Register of Medicines.
Earlier on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced the upcoming registration of the vaccine at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Today, the Ministry of Health will register the Gam-COVID-Vac-M vaccine of the Gamaleya Center for children aged 12 to 17 years old,” she said, noting that children under 15 years of age will be vaccinated with the new drug only with the consent of one parents, and the rest - with their own consent.
