In the next 48 hours, the omicron strain could become the dominant variant of covid-19 in London. This was stated by the HEAD of the British Ministry of Health Sajid Javid, writes The Guardian.

Javid emphasized that no strain of CORONAVIRUS has spread as quickly as omicron. There are currently 4713 cases of infection with the omicron strain in the UK.

“While the omicron strain accounts for more than 20% of cases in England, we see that in London the figure has already exceeded 44%,” Javid said.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on December 13 that the first death of a patient with the omicron strain was recorded in the country.
