Mask regime and social distance will be introduced in Belarus

In all regions of Belarus, from October 9, the wearing of masks in public places will be introduced, it will also be necessary to observe the recommended social distance, according to the website of the country's Ministry of Health.

The rules will also apply when visiting shops, catering, theaters, cinemas, cultural events, stadiums, businesses, healthcare facilities, pharmacies, as well as in public transport, including taxis.

This is the first time in a pandemic when a mask regime is introduced immediately throughout Belarus. In the fall of 2020, it was already in effect everywhere, including in Minsk, but the requirement was introduced in turn by individual regions.

Also, only legal entities were previously responsible for non-compliance with restrictions. The organization could be fined, but no punishment was provided for citizens. Now a change has been made to the rules - violators themselves can be held accountable for violations of established security measures. “A significant addition has been made - the responsibility of individuals (citizens). Therefore, from October 9, responsibility will also be assigned to citizens when visiting organizations, facilities, enterprises," Tarasenko said.
