
In Moscow, after the illness of COVID-19, the People's Artist of RUSSIA, director Valery Lonskoy, died, film critic Andrey Plakhov said on his FACEBOOK page and confirmed this information to RBC. Lonsky was 80 years old.
“He died in Kommunarka. Valery's wife Nadezhda is also there, she is fighting for life in intensive care, ”Plakhov wrote, adding that the director died from CORONAVIRUS infection.
Lonskoy, in addition to his work in cinema, was known as the author of short stories, novels and epigrams.
RBC asked the VGIK press service for a comment. The Moscow branch of the Union of Cinematographers recommended RBC to contact the Actors Guild of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia - the publication sent a request there. Lonskoy was born in Khabarovsk in 1941. He graduated from the directing department of VGIK, worked at the Gorky Film Studio, filmed stories for Yeralash.
