At the age of 94, songwriter Nikolai Dobronravov, the husband of composer Alexandra Pakhmutova, died. Singer Nikolai Baskov announced this on his Instagram (belongs to Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in RUSSIA).

“I just found out that Nikolai Nikolaevich Dobronravov has passed away,” he wrote, quoting lines from the song “Nadezhda,” composed by the poet.

Express Newspaper also reported Dobronravov’s death. According to the publication, he died “after a serious and long illness.”

“He was very well-mannered, open and friendly,” actress Yulia Menshova told RBC.

In December 2020, the poet and his wife were diagnosed with coronavirus. They were hospitalized, and Dobronravova and Pakhmutova were discharged from the hospital in January 2021.

Nikolai Dobronravov was born on November 22, 1928 in Leningrad ( St. Petersburg ). In 1950, he graduated from the Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio at the Gorky Moscow Art Theater, and in 1952 from the Moscow City Pedagogical Institute named after Potemkin.

Dobronravov starred in episodic roles in two films - “Sporting Honor” (1951, uncredited) and “The Return of Vasily Bortnikov (1953). In 1956, he married Pakhmutova; the couple had no children.

Among the most famous songs written by Dobronravov are “A coward does not play hockey”, “Team of our youth”, “Tenderness”, “Belovezhskaya Pushcha”, “The main thing, guys, is not to grow old with your heart”, “And the battle continues again”, “ The Bird of Happiness". Many of these songs were written to Pakhmutova's music. Other composers also wrote music for Dobronravov’s texts, in particular Mikael Tariverdiev and Muslim Magomaev.

Dobronravov is an honorary professor at Moscow State University, winner of a number of state awards, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II and III degrees, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of the Badge of Honor.
