Eight antiviral drugs, which were also used in the fight against previous strains, showed high efficiency in the treatment of patients with the covid-19 omicron strain. This is reported by the journal Cell Research, citing the results of a study by scientists from the University of Kent and the Goethe University of Frankfurt.
In the study of cell cultures, scientists found that "omicron", like its predecessors, is sensitive to eight antiviral drugs. These are EIDD-1931 (the active metabolite of molnupiravir), ribavirin, remdesivir, favipiravir, PF-07321332 (nirmatrelvir, the active ingredient of paxlovide), nafamostat, camostat, and aprotinin.
Earlier, Svetlana Smetanina, Chief Freelance Specialist in Infectious Diseases of the Moscow HEALTH Department, advised taking antipyretics and drugs such as interferon-alpha in the form of drops, sprays (Grippferon, Genferon Light and others), umifenovir (Arbidol) and riamilovir ( "Triazavirin") in the treatment of "omicron". According to her, they were supposed to reduce the viral load at the beginning of the disease and alleviate its symptoms, as well as reduce the duration. The specialist also warned the sick against taking antibiotics without a doctor's prescription.
