The effectiveness of Brazilian viper venom in treating people with COVID-19 has not yet been proven, despite encouraging tests in monkeys. In any case, an extract from some animal poison will not work on its own. This was stated by experts interviewed by RBC.
“The virus has a huge number of pathological manifestations. <...> How to treat now is more or less clear, but there is no strong universal remedy, and viper venom will not become one. Only a complex of drugs will work, <...> and some exposure or dilution of the venom of a poisonous animal or snake will not work, ”says Alexander Chepurnov, head of the laboratory of especially dangerous infections of the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine (FRC FTM), professor of virology .
The Kyrgyz Minister announced the treatment of COVID with a tincture of a poisonous plant Society
He noted that scientists have simply discovered an antiviral effect and it is not yet clear how it can be used. According to the expert, anti-coronavirus drugs should affect “the ability to attach the virus, suppress biochemistry, and create problems for the virus to exit the infected cell and reproduce in it.” For the treatment of infection, a complex of two or three drugs is needed.
