Twitter admitted that it had inflated its monthly audience by 1.9 million users over the past three years. It is reported by the Financial Times.

The miscalculation was discovered just days after Twitter's board of directors agreed to a $44 billion leveraged buyout of the company by Elon Musk.

This is the second time that the social network provides incorrect data on the number of active users on the platform. A similar incident occurred in 2017, when Twitter incorrectly counted the number of users since the fourth quarter of 2014 because it counted third-party text apps.
