On non-working days, Russians spent 78.8% more on alcohol compared to the same period in 2020, according to a study by fiscal data operator OFD.ru (available to RBC).
The operator analyzed the data from checks for the period from October 28 to November 7, 2020 in comparison with the same period of this year in monetary terms.
According to these data, on October 27, 2021, that is, the day before the lockdown, Russians spent five times more on alcohol than on the first day of the official holiday - October 28. This was influenced, among other things, by the fact that on non-working days, shops where the share of alcohol for sale is a priority — 70-100% — were subject to restrictions.
Due to the closure of alcohol stores on non-working days, a significant increase in revenue from the sale of alcohol was shown by retail chain stores - by 75%, as well as airports - by 195%. In parks, revenue during this period, on the contrary, showed a decrease of 38.2%.
