Trump Nominates Kennedy Jr. to Become Health Secretary

US President- elect Donald Trump has nominated the nephew of assassinated US President John F. Kennedy and his former rival in the election race, Robert Kennedy Jr., for the post of US Secretary of Health and Human Services. He announced this in X.

"I am pleased to announce Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS)," he wrote.

Trump said Americans have suffered for too long at the hands of the industrial food complex and pharmaceutical companies who have resorted to deception and misinformation on public health issues.

The politician assured that under Kennedy Jr., HHS will play a greater role in ensuring that every citizen is protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and food additives, and that he, as secretary, will “end the chronic disease epidemic and make America great and healthy again.”

Politico previously reported on Trump's intention to choose Kennedy Jr. as the new HEAD of the US Department of Health and Human Services, citing a source familiar with the situation.

Kennedy Jr., 70, previously ran for president as an independent but later dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump.

Trump publicly promised to bring Kennedy Jr. on his team if he dropped out of the race, following weeks of negotiations between their campaigns. An anti-vaxxer, Kennedy has frequently criticized Trump for his covid response and vaccine acceleration programs. The Republican, in turn, has called Kennedy a representative of the “radical left.”

Kennedy Jr. is a fan of conspiracy theories. Among other things, he has accused the CIA of involvement in his father’s death and opposed vaccinations , insisting that they cause mental disabilities in children. He became the chief legal adviser to an organization that promotes such views and has written several books about the dangers of vaccinations. His views have become even more extreme during the covid-19 pandemic .

The politician promises to end the “corrupt merger of government and corporations” that are trying to “poison our children and our people with chemicals and pharmaceuticals” and “destroy the middle class.”
