For women only: what is causing the femtech investment boom

In 2020, innovative projects whose clients are women received record amounts of venture capital investments. Many Russian femtech projects managed to go abroad

The pandemic has boosted medical projects. One of the most promising areas is femtech: it products related to the biological and psychological needs of women. In May 2021, The New York Times called femtech "the next big thing" in the healthcare industry. Funding for women-focused startups surged to $418 million last year, nearly doubling from a year earlier, BLOOMBERG calculated, citing data from Rock HEALTH, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm. The figure is approximate: the fund monitors only American transactions in the amount of $2 million or more (22 femtech projects received such investments last year). Overall, Rock Health counts in the US55 promising companies that address issues such as reproductive health, maternal health and women's chronic diseases. However, there are femtech startups not only in the West, but also in RUSSIA - some of them have already attracted hundreds of thousands of dollars.
