Stagnation or recession in the economy
Well-known Russian regionalist expert, professor of Moscow State University Natalia Zubarevich at the scientific conference "Frontiers of Russia" in Svetlogorsk said that from 2014 to 2019, zero growth was recorded in the Kaliningrad industry. The expert also pointed to investment stagnation with a sharp decline of 8% in 2020 - with a national average of 1.4%. All this was said after the optimistic reports of the HEAD of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Regional Development Corporation.
Compensation for SEZ residents
Freezing until 2031 compensation of customs duties to residents of the Special Economic Zone at the level of 85% (of the previous volume) is a transitional period for the Kaliningrad economy, Anton Alikhanov believes. According to him, since 2006, during the previous transition periods, the region's economy has not had time to change. And the new transition will be tougher for all businesses.
COVID-free stadium
Regional authorities are considering the possibility of introducing a COVID-free regime at the Kaliningrad stadium on Oktyabrsky Island for Baltika matches. Governor Anton Alikhanov said that now the initiative is being coordinated with Rospotrebnadzor. This status will allow more than 500 vaccinated spectators or those with negative PCR tests to enter the stadium.
In the Kaliningrad region over the past day, 182 cases of coronavirus infection have been detected, 161 people have recovered, three have died.
From August 21 to 27 in Kaliningrad, you can get vaccinated against coronavirus with two components at five mobile vaccination points, and revaccinate at one of them. The full list of items is here.
