The US authorities consider the WHO proposal to introduce a moratorium on revaccination against coronavirus as a “wrong choice”. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki during a briefing.

“If WHO decides that boosters [additional doses] are needed by any part of the population, we will provide them too. We definitely believe that this [moratorium] is the wrong choice, ”she answered the corresponding question of a journalist.

The US has enough vaccines, she said. She also believes that, if necessary, the United States can offer additional doses of vaccines to countries in need without stopping the booster program in its own country.

WHO recommends a moratorium on revaccination against COVID Society

The head of WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the need for a moratorium on revaccination against COVID-19 in wealthy countries. According to him, in May, the World Health Organization set a goal of vaccinating at least 10% of the population in every country in the world, but due to massive purchases of vaccines by richer countries, vaccination in the world is disproportionate. “WHO calls for a moratorium on revaccination until at least the end of September to allow at least 10% of the population of each country to be vaccinated,” he said. The head of WHO also recommended that vaccine manufacturers pay attention to the COVAX program, under which drugs are provided to the poorest countries.
