Sovremennik denied reports of the hospitalization of artistic director Ryzhakov

Reports that the artistic DIRECTOR of Sovremennik, Viktor Ryzhakov, were hospitalized are false, RBC was told in the theater's press service.

“This is false information, soon a comment will be published on all our resources,” the press service of Sovremennik said.

The hospitalization of the 61-year-old artistic director was previously reported by the Mash TELEGRAM channel. According to him, Ryzhakov's condition is assessed as moderate, the doctors ordered tests. The Telegram channel notes that the artist had been ill with covid-19 in December, but on Monday, January 17, his temperature rose to 38.5 and he passed a test for CORONAVIRUS, which turned out to be positive.

Viktor Ryzhakov was born on May 25, 1960 in Khabarovsk. He graduated from the Far Eastern Institute of Arts, as well as the Shchukin Theater School and postgraduate studies at the Russian Academy of Theater Arts. Ryzhakov also teaches acting and directing at the Moscow Art Theater School. He became the artistic director of Sovremennik in January 2020 after the death of Galina Volchek.
