Sobyanin told who was more often hospitalized with COVID

Most of those hospitalized with coronavirus in Moscow self-medicated - about 80% of those who were hospitalized, Mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel. These people, having become infected, decided not to go to the doctors, he explained.

“We try not to bring patients to hospitals, so that they are treated on an outpatient basis, and for this it is necessary to identify them at an early stage. <...> The whole task is not to bring a person to a serious condition, neither the patient nor the healthcare system needs it. And as a rule, people turn out to be here - not those whom we identified and managed at an early stage, but those who self-medicated or simply did not go to the doctor. That’s 80% of them that get here,” the mayor said (quoted by TASS).

Sobyanin noted that so far the restrictions imposed are sufficient and the city authorities do not plan to tighten them. At the same time, the mayor stressed that in the future the decision on new measures will depend on the situation with the pandemic, which is “dynamic, volatile and poorly predictable.”

In August, in an interview with RBC, Sobyanin explained that the main factor in making decisions about restrictions is the occupancy of beds. According to him, if the bed fund is filled by two-thirds, this is a signal for the introduction of restrictions. “And in May-June we took such measures. This was not a general lockdown, but rather local measures. And as soon as we saw that there was a decline in the incidence, we began to withdraw these beds from circulation, return planned medical care and cancel restrictive measures, ”said the mayor.

Now the volume of reserve beds for patients with coronavirus is from 20 to 40%, Sobyanin noted on the air of Rossiya 24.
