
The American transnational telecommunications conglomerate AT&T is in talks to merge a number of media assets with Discovery, Inc. it is reported by BLOOMBERG, citing sources.
According to the interlocutors of the agency, now the companies are discussing a possible merger, but there is no certainty that they will eventually lead to a deal. Representatives from AT&T and Discovery declined to comment on this information.
In 2016, AT&T announced it was buying Time Warner for $85.4 billion. Two years later, the deal was closed. After that, the media conglomerate began to own CNN, HBO, Cartoon Network, TBS, TNT and Warner Bros. Prior to that, Time Warner had long been one of the four largest media companies in the world.
Discovery Inc. belongs to the family of TV channels of the same name, including Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, Discovery Family, Science Channel, TLC, HGTV and others.
