In April 2021, the number of dead Russians who had COVID-19 at the time of death (regardless of whether it became the main cause of death or a concomitant factor) amounted to 20.3 thousand people, Rosstat reported. Compared to the updated figure in March (just over 24 thousand people - 1.4% more than originally reported), the death rate from COVID-19 decreased by 15.5%.

April last year, when the epidemic in RUSSIA was just beginning, was the first month for which Rosstat estimated the death rate associated with COVID-19. At that time, 2,825 cases were registered.

According to Rosstat data, as of April, fears of a third wave of the pandemic in Russia have not materialized. Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova warned that a seasonal “some increase” in the incidence of CORONAVIRUS is possible in April-May.

The official “covid” mortality has been consistently declining since December 2020, when it peaked at 45.3 thousand deaths.

The number of deaths for whom COVID-19 was recognized as the main cause of death in April 2021 amounted to 15.5 thousand people (12.5% ​​less than in March). During the 13 months of the statistical pandemic, almost 182.8 thousand people died directly from COVID-19 in Russia. Rosstat also identifies categories of deaths for which the coronavirus did not become the main cause of death (in April - 4750 such cases, 24% less than in March).
