However, from the data of Rosstat on December 3, it follows that from the beginning of the pandemic to October of this year, more than 537 thousand deaths were registered after infection with COVID. The agency includes in its statistics those who died from other diseases against the background of the coronavirus, as well as those who were found to have the virus after death.

The level of herd immunity in Russia was 60.4%, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said the day before. Over the past week, another region reached the target of 80% immunized - the level of herd immunity in Chukotka was 80.3%. Thus, together with Sevastopol, where the share of those immunized was 90.2%, two regions of Russia have already reached the target level.

St. Petersburg (79.6%), Karelia (78.9%) and the Moscow region (76.6%) are approaching the achievement of the required level of 80% . In Moscow, the level of herd immunity is 72%, down from 72.2% last week.

Russian President Vladimir Putin during a big press conference called the level of herd immunity in the country insufficient. He noted that he expects the target level to be reached in the first half of next year, "at least at the end of the first, in the second quarter." The President stressed that some countries are already talking about the need to achieve a level of herd immunity of 90-95%.
