Mortality from COVID-19 in Russia has updated the maximum since May 14

In RUSSIA, 393 people died from CORONAVIRUS infection over the past day, according to the operational headquarters for combating the spread of the disease. This is the highest figure since May 14.

In total, according to the headquarters, the number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in the country amounted to 119.1 thousand. This is less than the estimates of Rosstat, which includes in its mortality statistics cases when the death was caused by another disease against the background of covid-19 , and also cases of detected coronavirus after the death of the patient. According to these data, in Russia since April last year, the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 249 thousand people.

During the day, 7884 people fell ill, and in total since the beginning of the pandemic 5.017 million. The largest increase in cases in Moscow (2075), St. Petersburg (844) and the Moscow region (734). For the capital, today's figure is the lowest in the last three weeks.

According to Alexander Gorelov, deputy DIRECTOR for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, 14 cases of infection with the Indian strain of coronavirus were officially detected in Russia by May 24. The HEAD of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, had previously said that the country had not yet recorded the most dangerous mutation of the Indian version of the virus in the country.
