In the Novosibirsk region, scientists have developed a test system. With its help, it is possible to identify the presence of the genetic material of the CORONAVIRUS and determine whether it belongs to the omicron strain. Specialists of Modern Laboratory Technologies LLC together with the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine (ICBFM) of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirov took part in the creation.

“When creating a test system, scientists worked with a synthesized sequence that repeats the variable part of the genome of the SARS-CoV-2 omicron strain. The sensitivity of the created test system is assessed as high.

The test takes the same amount of time as traditional PCR diagnostics, but at the same time, medical workers will be able to get not one, but two units of information.

Modern Laboratory Technologies LLC is a resident of Koltsovo Biotechnopark. The company has several registration certificates for test systems that detect SARS-CoV-2 RNA.

As RBC reported, according to Alexander Semenov, a virologist and immunologist, HEAD of the Vector center, Omicron descends into the lungs faster than others and causes pneumonia in three to five days. According to the expert, when infected with previous versions of the coronavirus, it took up to 11 days from the moment of infection to the onset of pneumonia.
