The wife and daughter of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who was sentenced to 20 years in the United States for drug smuggling, Victoria and Ekaterina asked US President Joe Biden for clemency. This was announced by the lawyer of the Russian Alexei Tarasov, reports TASS.
“The letter was sent <...> addressed to US President Biden, a copy of the letter was also addressed to Secretary of State [US Anthony] Blinken. This is just a letter on pardoning Konstantin Yaroshenko, this is not some kind of exchange offer, ”the lawyer clarified.
Yaroshenko's lawyers asked to be released due to the covid outbreak in prison Society
According to him, the request to release the pilot "is based on humanitarian reasons", since Yaroshenko "suffers from a number of diseases" and cannot see his relatives regularly. The letter was signed by Yaroshenko's wife Victoria and his daughter Ekaterina.
Victoria Yaroshenko indicated in the request that she and her daughter could only see him twice during the entire time the Russian was imprisoned (since 2011): in 2011 and 2018. The reason is the expensive cost of a trip from RUSSIA to the States and problems with obtaining a visa.
