
The family of private investor Oleg Burlakov, who is included in the list of 200 richest Russian businessmen, decided to conduct an independent international examination of the circumstances of his death. Forbes writes about it.
A statement from representatives of his family says that the businessman died on June 21 in Moscow at the age of 72. “Wife Lyudmila, daughters Elena and Veronika mourn and ask that their personal space be respected at this difficult time,” the statement says.
It also says that Burlakov's wife and children want an independent international expert to establish all the circumstances of the businessman's death. “As soon as the family became aware that Oleg was ill, they immediately requested information, but it was not provided to them in a timely manner,” Forbes reports.

A family spokesman told the publication that Burlakov's family kept asking for information when they learned of his illness and were shocked to learn of the billionaire's death from his lawyers.
The death of Burlakov became known the day before, on June 26. Forbes, referring to his acquaintance and friend of his wife, reported that the cause of death was the coronavirus covid-19 .
Burlakov's fortune is estimated at $650 million. He ranked 177th in the Russian Forbes rating. The businessman was a co-owner of Stroylesbank, the Terpentin paint and varnish factory and the investment and construction company Impulse. He also owned the 106.7m sailing yacht Black Pearl, which is powered by solar and wind power.
Burlakov previously stated that he had invested more than $250 million in the ship, proceeds from the sale of shares in Novoroscement (it was sold to Lev Kvetnoy in 2007. According to Forbes, the deal amounted to $1.2 billion) and Burneftegaz (was sold to Bashneft for $1 billion in 2014). During the Soviet period, he was engaged in secret military developments. He was called one of the most secretive members of the Russian Forbes list.
