Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has tested positive for covid-19 , Shalva Khachapuridze, the politician's lawyer, told Interpressnews.
The ex-president is being treated at the Vivamed clinic in Tbilisi. According to the defender, on January 24, he again lost consciousness.
Saakashvili is 55 years old. After the end of his presidential term in 2013, he tried to engage in politics in Ukraine, but in 2021 he returned to Georgia and was arrested. Several criminal cases were initiated against him, including abuse of office, beating of an ex-deputy and embezzlement of public funds for personal needs.
