Temples in Moscow were recommended to transfer mass events that are not related to liturgical activities online, Alexander Volkov, HEAD of the information commission of the Moscow diocese, told RBC.

“We are not talking about services. It's about extracurricular activities. In any church, the main part of extra-liturgical activity is Sunday schools. Rectors are recommended to transfer schools operating in small and poorly ventilated rooms to online mode, ”he explained.

In those schools where conditions allow for safe learning, that is, to ensure the distance between students and ventilate the premises, face-to-face classes can be left. Volkov clarified that these recommendations will be in effect until the incidence of covid-19 decreases .

At the same time, the chief imam of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, Ildar Alyautdinov, told RBC that Moscow mosques are functioning as before, in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological requirements. “Parishioners pray and attend classes strictly in masks, regular cleaning and disinfection of the premises has been organized,” he said.
