Almost 24% of families in RUSSIA live in individual housing, revealed Rosstat. In two years, the proportion of urban residents living in private homes has also increased. Craving for your own home comes into conflict with the big city, expert says
About 23.9% of Russian households live in an individual (single-apartment) house, 4.1% - in a part of an individual house, showed the Comprehensive Monitoring of Living Conditions for the Population for 2020, the main results of which were posted by the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat). The share of urban families living in private houses was 12.5%.
The indicators have grown significantly compared to the results of the previous similar study by Rosstat, conducted in the fall of 2018. Then 21% of all households (9.7% of urban) said they live in single-family houses.
However, the data show that 61% of urban households living in private houses, this housing was built in 1957-1995. The share of citizens living in individual houses, whose housing was built “after 2012” (this category also includes new houses), increased from 2.8 to 3.9%.
The new Rosstat study was conducted in October-November 2020. According to the department, this is one of its largest projects: once every two years, the living conditions of more than 100,000 households are studied. The study is representative of all private households in Russia, the unit of analysis is a household (which may also consist of one person). A reliable answer to the question of how many households there are in Russia can only be given by a nationwide population census (to be held in the fall of 2021). The previous 2010 census showed that there were 54.6 million private households in Russia.
