In August, Russians bought 59% more medicines against coronavirus compared to July (11.6 million packages versus 7.3 million, respectively), spending 41% more (4.5 billion rubles), follows from data from the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT).

According to Yegor Zhavoronkov, head of the Pharma commodity group at the center, the demand for anti-covid drugs began to grow in the last week of July, when they began to buy 17% more drugs. “In the first week of August, another jump of 20% began, after which consumption stabilized at just over 1 billion rubles a week,” he said.

At the same time, now the demand for coronavirus drugs is much lower than in winter, when sales at the peak reached 3.5 billion rubles, the specialist notes. He attributes this, among other things, to lower retail prices. According to the National System for Digital Labeling of Goods "Honest Sign", in August the average price for a package of medicines against COVID-19 decreased by 11% compared to July and amounted to 387 rubles.

There is no expected shortage of anti-covid drugs on the Russian market, the CRPT assured. Compared to July, August produced 15% more drugs, and in the eight months of this year, 14% more coronavirus drugs were produced than in the same period last year. Despite the fact that the pace of production and imports lags behind the pace of consumption, the stocks of drugs on the market at current consumption will be enough for almost eight months, Chestny Znak experts believe.

In Russia, for the first time in four days, less than 50 thousand cases of COVID were detected Society

In mid-July, after the removal of all anti-COVID restrictions, the incidence of COVID-19 began to rise again in Russia. Rospotrebnadzor explained this by the spread of more contagious subspecies of the omicron strain and recommended wearing masks if the weekly incidence rate exceeds 50 cases per 100,000 population.

Health Minister Mikhail Murashko on September 2 warned of an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in the near future. In the republics of Altai and Buryatia, in the Jewish Autonomous Region and in the Ulyanovsk Region, the wearing of masks has been introduced. Nevertheless, Rospotrebnadzor rejected the idea of introducing mandatory restrictions at the federal level.
