The Russians named the most important events of the year in their cities

Job search service SuperJob conducted a survey in which residents of large Russian cities listed the key events of the year in their locality. The report on the results of the study was submitted to RBC.

“Among the key events, residents of large cities called elections to the State Duma and local authorities, the All-Russian Population Census, social payments to pensioners and families with children,” the study says, but the most popular options in most cases were regional, not federal, events and processes.

Residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg (1500 people each), Volgograd, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Samara and Saratov, Ulyanovsk, Ufa, Chelyabinsk were interviewed (according to 500 people). The survey was conducted from December 1 to December 18 among the economically active population of these cities over 18 years old. The question was: “What event, besides the CORONAVIRUS epidemic, that occurred in your city in 2021, do you consider the most significant?”

The first three significant events depending on the city are as follows.

Moscow : elections to the State Duma, by-elections to the Moscow City Duma and electronic voting; vaccination; “political events” (announcement by the media as foreign agents, rallies, the case of Alexei Navalny, etc.). St. Petersburg : festive events ("Scarlet Sails", the 200th anniversary of Dostoevsky, Navy Day, etc.), sports (Euro 2020, Champions League, victory of the Zenit football club in the Russian championship), elections to the State Duma and legislature. Volgograd : construction and repair of roads, improvement of the city, city day. Voronezh : improvement of the city, holidays (city day, anniversary of Gagarin's flight), introduction of QR codes. Yekaterinburg : construction and repair of roads, elections to the State Duma and the Legislative Assembly, vaccination against COVID. Irkutsk: construction and repair of roads, natural disasters (flood, flooding, earthquake), the introduction of QR codes. Kazan : city improvement, Sabantuy, mass shooting at gymnasium No. 175. Krasnodar : city improvement, construction and repair of roads, elections to the State Duma. Krasnoyarsk : improvement of the city, construction and repair of roads, elections to the State Duma and the Legislative Assembly. Nizhny Novgorod : 800th anniversary of the city, improvement of the city, construction and repair of roads. Novosibirsk : construction and repair of roads, sports (preparation for the youth hockey world championship in 2023, construction of an ice arena, the Tokyo Olympics), city improvement. Omsk: city day, sports (the same as in Novosibirsk, but without the Olympics), construction and repair of roads. Perm : improvement of the city, construction and repair of roads, mass shooting at the university. Rostov-on-Don : city day, construction and repair of roads, improvement of the city. Samara : construction and repair of roads, improvement of the city, 435th anniversary of the city. Saratov : beautification of the city, construction and repair of roads, city day and the 60th anniversary of Gagarin's flight. Ulyanovsk : political events (change of the governor of the region and announcement of the media as foreign agents), improvement of the city, elections to the Duma and legislative assembly. Ufa: construction and repair of roads, city day and folkloriada (held in Bashkiria), elections to the State Duma and local elections. Chelyabinsk : city improvement, construction and repair of roads, Victory Day.
