The countries with which Russia is resuming flights are not among the most popular foreign travel destinations for Russians. Among them, before the pandemic, they most often visited Portugal: in 2019, according to the FSB border service, 67.2 thousand of our compatriots visited this country (including tourists, those who traveled for work or study, with private purposes, and personnel, servicing transport). Portugal was in 50th place among all countries in terms of the number of accepted Russians. Mexico, which was visited by 50.5 thousand citizens of Russia, was in 54th place, Malta was in 66th place (23 thousand went there). The press service of the Intourist tour operator notes that open destinations “are not as massive as Egypt or Italy, but demand will be stable.” Before the pandemic, Mexico was a popular charter destination for the tour operator, sales to Malta “developed dynamically”, Intourist put its own charter chains to Portugal on the Portuguese Riviera and Madeira, sales were “excellent”. Intourist is now preparing package tours to Saudi Arabia, and "sees the potential in this product."
