Russia did not provide the EU with documents for the recognition of covid certificates Russia

since July, it has not provided the European Commission with the documents necessary for the mutual recognition of covid certificates, the EU ambassador told RBC.Such certificates would allow travel without quarantine Markus Ederer

“The Russian side has not yet prepared the necessary documents to be sent to the European Commission in Brussels. I regret this, because mutual recognition of equivalence, including Russia's recognition of EU digital covid-19 certificates, would definitely make life easier for people traveling both ways,” EU Ambassador to RUSSIA Markus Ederer said in an interview with RBC.

The diplomat noted that the mutual recognition of certificates would allow those travelers who were vaccinated against CORONAVIRUS or had a disease to avoid quarantine measures in their respective countries. Ederer confirmed that this rule would also apply to Russian citizens vaccinated with Sputnik V, although the vaccine is not yet recognized in the EU.

“2.5 months ago, in July, we provided the Ministry of HEALTH with all the necessary information and requirements necessary to make a decision on the recognition of the equivalence of Russian certificates and EU digital covid certificates (that is, a Russian vaccination certificate is recognized in the European Union and vice versa. -) . Such equivalence decisions have already been made in relation to 16 countries, among them Israel, Turkey, North Macedonia. Another 15 countries are on their way to this,” the diplomat said. RBC sent inquiries to the press services of the Ministry of Health and the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

Ederer first spoke about the possibility of mutual recognition of covid certificates between Russia and the EU in early July: “We turned to the Ministry of Health and proposed negotiations on whether Russia wants to participate in such a process.”
