Iran may increase the supply of vegetables to Russia from the current 570,000 tons to 2 million tons per year, the Rosselkhoznadzor said in a statement published following talks between Deputy Minister Konstantin Savenkov and the heads of the Iranian Plant Protection Organization (IPPO) Jahpur Jamshid Alai Moghadami and the Iranian Veterinary Organization (IVO) Seyyed Mohammad Aghamiri.

“At the talks, it was about Iran's ability to supply up to 2 million tons of vegetables, such as tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, peppers, as well as greens and apples. To date, the volume of imports of these crops to Russia by the Iranian side is estimated at 570,000 tons,” the statement said.

In turn, Iran expressed its interest in purchasing an additional amount of grain and oil crops from 7 million tons to 12 million tons per year from Russia. In December last year, Rosselkhoznadzor restricted the supply of fruits and vegetables to Russia from Iran due to the residual content of pesticides banned in the country.
