Rospotrebnadzor reported an increase in the incidence of influenza and SARS

The incidence of influenza and SARS in RUSSIA increased by 18.5% compared to the previous week. This was reported in Rospotrebnadzor.

According to the agency, in 43 regions, the incidence rate exceeded the national average. Among influenza viruses, the A(H1N1)-2009 strain, the so-called "swine flu", predominates. it was identified in 55 subjects.

Swine flu is an infectious disease whose symptoms are similar to those of the seasonal flu. The sick person may develop a high fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, tiredness, and other symptoms. In a severe form of the disease, patients quickly progress to primary viral pneumonia, which, if not properly treated, can cause serious complications and lead to death.

The incidence rate of covid-19 exceeded the level of the previous week by 7%. For the week from November 21 to 27, almost 39 thousand cases of CORONAVIRUS infection were registered in the country. An increase in the incidence was recorded in 44 regions, including Moscow, the Moscow Region and St. Petersburg .

The HEAD of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, noted in October that this season the coronavirus behaves like seasonal viruses familiar to Russians and the peak incidence coincided with the September rise in SARS. She did not rule out an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 by the end of autumn.

Rospotrebnadzor warned about the increase in swine flu activity in mid-November. The department noted that the strains identified this year differ from those found in the previous year, and advised to be vaccinated.
