Rospotrebnadzor warned of the spread of a new strain of coronavirus.

The number of cases of infection with the new SARS-CoV-2 CORONAVIRUS strain, XFG, also known as "Stratus," has increased in RUSSIA, Rospotrebnadzor HEAD Anna Popova said in an interview with TASS .

"The number of Stratus cases is increasing every day; there have already been 300, 384, and there will be even more," she clarified.

Popova noted that the new strain is more contagious than previous ones, but the disease is mild. According to her, each subsequent coronavirus variant changes and acquires its own unique properties to survive and evolve.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor emphasized that the consequences of the infection can vary, and therefore it is essential to follow preventative measures and take good care of one's HEALTH.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, 114 cases of infection with the new Stratus virus strain were registered in Russia at the end of July.

The majority of cases—54%—were in Moscow, with the rest spread across several Russian regions, including Moscow, Magadan, Sverdlovsk, and Leningrad Oblasts.

The first case of Stratus infection in Russia was registered on April 24, and the first in the world was registered on January 27, 2025, in CANADA.

According to experts, the strain spreads quickly but is "mild," and the illness is generally tolerated without complications. One of the symptoms and characteristic features of the disease is hoarseness.
