Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) announced that the "unknown virus" reported on a TELEGRAM channel on March 29 turned out to be a mycoplasma infection. This was reported on the agency's official channel.TELEGRAM .

"In their publications, the editors did not call the virus 'new,' only 'unknown' (since it had not been identified), and they also suggested that it could be 'mycoplasma pneumonia,' which was soon confirmed by the results," the publication states.

The agency also noted that the situation is being closely monitored. Rospotrebnadzor added that the epidemiological situation in the Russian Federation for a group of respiratory infections, including acute respiratory viral infections and influenza,covid-19 and community-acquired pneumonia, stable and completely controlled.

Mycoplasma pneumonia is an atypical lung infection caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae. The seasonal incidence of this type of pneumonia peaks in the fall and winter, and it primarily affects children and adolescents.

The disease is accompanied by a severe and persistent cough, a possible fever, chest pain, and possible bronchial obstruction. A PCR test is recommended to confirm the diagnosis. Mycoplasma pneumonia usually has a benign course, but in rare cases, it can be very severe. There is no vaccine against this infection.

On March 29, the SHOT Telegram channel reported the emergence of an unknown virus in RUSSIA. According to the channel, those infected complained of high fever and severecoughing up blood, while tests for COVID-19 and influenza were negative.

One of the patients, speaking with SHOT, stated that "doctors are noting many cases" of infection with a virus that cannot be identified, while in the conclusions the patients were diagnosed as "acute upper respiratory tract infection, unspecified - ARVI."
