Permission to operate regular flights to the Egyptian resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh was issued to Rossiya Airlines in connection with the decision of the operational headquarters at the end of July to resume air traffic, Rosaviatsia told RBC.

“Rosaviation has issued permission to Rossiya Airlines to operate regular flights on the indicated routes,” the ministry said in a statement.

Rossiya announced that it had received permission to fly on July 29, this is the first air carrier allowed to fly to Egyptian resorts. The airline plans to start operating regular flights from 9 August. Aircraft to the resorts will fly from Sheremetyevo.

In total, eight more Russian airlines requested permission to fly to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, in particular Aeroflot (the parent company of Rossiya), S7, Ural Airlines and Nordwind. According to Izvestia, all flight quotas will be given to Rossiya.
