
The DIRECTOR who made the films “We are from the Future” and “Stormy Gates”, Andrei Malyukov, died at the age of 73, actress and director Natalya Bondarchuk, who was his cousin, told TASS.
According to her, Malyukov has been seriously ill for the past two years, but his death was due to the effects of coronavirus infection.
Bondarchuk added that the farewell to the director will not be held due to the situation with the pandemic. The place of Malyukov's burial has not yet been determined.
Malyukov was born in 1948 in Novosibirsk. In the early 1970s he graduated from the directing department of VGIK. After that, he participated in the filming of films as an assistant director and second director. Since 1974, Malyukov has been the director of Mosfilm.
His first feature film was the film "In the zone of special attention" in 1977, which tells about the teachings of Soviet paratroopers. The picture was the first of the dilogy. The second came out in 1981 and was called "Return Move", but it was no longer Malyukov who shot it.
