Russia again recorded a record for the number of deaths from coronavirus

Mortality from coronavirus in Russia breaks records for the second day in a row - 786 people died from COVID-19 in Russia per day. For the first time, more than 700 deaths in Russia were registered on July 6. Since then, the figure has not fallen below this mark. Most deaths per day were recorded in Moscow and St. Petersburg  - 109 and 102, respectively.

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Russia has reached 145.2 thousand people. According to the operational headquarters, in these cases, coronavirus became the main cause of death. Rosstat, which uses a different calculation methodology, reported 289,000 deaths from COVID-19 from April last year to May 2021. In total, 5.7 million cases of coronavirus infection have been diagnosed in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
