The Federal Aviation Administration (FFA) of the United States has downgraded the flight safety rating for Russia due to the non-compliance of the Federal Air Transport Agency with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), according to the website of the American department.
This decision limits any expansion of partnerships, the FFA said in a statement. Air carriers from countries that have been assigned the second rating lose the ability to launch new flights to the United States, they can only operate existing flights.
“Currently, no airline operates scheduled flights between Russia and the United States,” the FFA said in a statement.
The representative of Rosaviatsia declined to comment. RBC sent a request to the press service of the Ministry of Transport.
Izvestia learned about the recommendation to pilots to prepare for flights without GPS
Earlier, on April 22, Izvestia, citing sources, reported a letter from Rosaviatsia to Russian airlines, in which the agency advised them to prepare for air travel without using a global navigation satellite system (GPS). The recommendation in the Federal Air Transport Agency was associated with a message from the European air regulator from mid-March, in which he notified about the possible substitution of GPS signals (spoofing) and their “jamming”. Such cases were identified after February 24 during flights in the Black Sea, near the countries of the Baltic Sea, in the Eastern Mediterranean, Israel, Turkey, Cyprus, Lebanon, Syria, northern Iraq and the Kaliningrad region.
The Federal Air Transport Agency then explained that these recommendations were in the nature of a warning, and the letter did not indicate the risk of disconnecting or distorting GPS signals on Russian territory. Not a single similar case of failure or failure of the system in Russia has been registered, the department stressed.

These systems, the ministry said, are installed at special stations at 115 airports in Russia. They constantly monitor the status of GPS and GLONASS signals, issue corrections to them and immediately transmit data on probable failures to the liners and dispatchers.
The authorities will discuss the repayment of debts of airlines at the expense of the NWF Business
In mid-April, the European Union expanded the list of airlines certified in Russia, which are banned from flying due to "not meeting international safety standards." The EU added 20 companies to the list, bringing the total number to 21. The measure concerns, in particular, passenger carriers Aeroflot, Pobeda, Russia, Siberia (S7), Ural Airlines, UTair, Nordstar, Nord Wind, Aurora and Alrosa.
The Federal Air Transport Agency considered the incident an attempt to arrange an "air blockade" of the country, and stated that this decision would not affect flight safety.

Since the beginning of March, the American authorities have banned aircraft of Russian airlines from entering US airspace, cargo and passenger flights, as well as regular and charter flights, fell under this restriction. An exception is made only for aircraft that conduct search and rescue operations, or for humanitarian flights. To obtain permission, you will need to apply to the US aviation authorities, they will consider each case separately.
In addition, in mid-March, the US Ministry of Industry and Trade notified that it would not allow flights of 100 commercial and private aircraft that, after the introduction of new sanctions, flew to Russia. The list included, among other things, a Gulfstream G560 aircraft used by businessman Roman Abramovich and 33 Aeroflot aircraft. At the end of March, the ministry added 73 more Russian aircraft to the list.
