The Federal Network Agency of Germany, which acts as a regulator, considers it necessary to increase benefits for private gas consumers against the backdrop of a sharp rise in energy prices, said the head of the department, Klaus Müller, in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.
According to him, it is necessary to increase monthly discounts on electricity consumption for private customers, taking into account the increase in gas prices. “Many households won't notice how much prices have gone up until next year when the heating bill is billed and they are unable to keep up with the extra payments,” he said.

Mueller warned consumers that they should prepare in advance for rising costs. “If discounts are not increased until next year, many people will be unprepared,” he stressed.
Earlier, on March 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree obliging countries from the list of unfriendly states to pay for Russian gas supplies in rubles, starting from April 1. The EU rejected this requirement.
