The developer estimated the timing of testing the vaccine against COVID-19 and influenza

DIRECTOR of the Research Institute of Influenza named after A.A. Smorodintsev of the Ministry of HEALTH Dmitry Lioznov said that clinical trials of a dual-action vaccine that will simultaneously protect against CORONAVIRUS and influenza could begin this fall. He said this in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.

“Now the preclinical studies on animals, in particular on primates, are coming to an end. After they are completed, at the end of June, we hope to receive results confirming the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine. Then in the fall of this year, we will begin clinical trials with the participation of healthy volunteers, ”said Lioznov.

According to him, the vaccine against covid-19 and influenza will be administered by injection into the nose twice with an interval of two weeks, it will be released as a spray.

“In addition, it can be used sublingually, that is, under the tongue,” he said. “But at the moment, we are still focusing on the creation of a drug for intranasal administration.”
