RUSSIA has developed a CORONAVIRUS drug based on monoclonal antibodies that can neutralize delta and gamma strains. This was stated by the DIRECTOR of the Institute of Molecular Biology. V. A. Engelhardt Alexander Makarov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of genetic technologies, the event was broadcast by the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

According to him, a year ago, the institute developed one of the first test systems for the analysis of antibodies against coronavirus, which helped to find donors for blood transfusions for those who are seriously ill with the disease.

“Using this test system, in collaboration with doctors from the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) and scientists from the Siberian Academy of Sciences, we have developed a drug based on monoclonal antibodies that neutralize coronavirus, including delta and gamma variants,” Makarov said. .

According to him, the high efficiency of neutralizing the virus is confirmed by experiments in human cell culture and tests on infected hamsters that were injected with antibodies.
