Cinemas in Kazan continue to suffer losses due to covid restrictions. The Rospotrebnadzor in the Republic of Tatarstan stated that today the issue of their abolition is not being considered

Consequences of restrictions

The HEAD of the Mir cinema, Olga Arkhipova, told RBC-Tatarstan that due to the “antique seating arrangement”, revenue losses amount to about 30% on weekdays and up to 50% on weekends. The cinema did not send requests to Rospotrebnadzor with a request to lift the current restrictions.

“We understand that the situation with the spread of infection remains difficult. The decision to lift restrictions is made by the body responsible for the epidemiological safety of the population, which has sufficient statistics, but for now we continue to comply with the established restrictions, ”said Arkhipova.

The press service of the Karo chain said that from Thursday until the end of the weekend there was a full house in cinemas, on other days revenue losses amount to 30-50% depending on the region.

“Why in the regions there is still such a low load for cinema halls is not clear, because the security measures taken are completely unprecedented. Practice has shown that the operation of Russian multiplexes does not affect the spread of the virus, and the economic sphere continues to suffer losses, while the cost of sanitizers, masks and other safety equipment remains at the cinemas, ”they shared.

At the Mir cinema, at the end of 2020, a drop in revenue and viewership by 30% was recorded. At the Kazan cinema "Karo", at the end of 2020, the drop in revenue was about 60%.
