The Pskov Governor admitted that medicine could not withstand the impact of "omicron"

The HEAD of the Pskov region urged to prepare for a negative scenario due to the spread of the omicron strain of CORONAVIRUS Mikhail Vedernikov

In the Pskov region, the healthcare system may not be able to withstand if a new wave of coronavirus hits before the previous one subsides. This was stated by the head of the region Mikhail Vedernikov in his weekly message on Instagram.

“There is evidence that in South Africa, where he [omicron-strain] comes from, up to 10% of all hospitalized were children under two years old. Never before has there been such a high proportion. Given the speed of the spread of this strain, it is already necessary to prepare for a possible negative scenario for the development of events, ”he warned.

Against this background, Vedernikov urged citizens to take precautions and increase the pace of vaccination against covid-19 . He asked to pay special attention to the vaccination of pregnant and lactating women.

The day before, the Ministry of Defense sent 30 military doctors to the Pskov region to help fight COVID-19 after the head of the region asked for help. They will provide practical assistance to healthcare institutions in the treatment of patients with coronavirus.
