Protsenko assessed the risk of re-disease COVID-19

Those who have had a CORONAVIRUS infection are at risk of contracting covid-19 again after six months. Denis Protsenko, chief physician of the hospital in Kommunarka, stated this in an interview with Naila Asker-zade on the RUSSIA 1 channel.

“In this regard, there are clear, understandable recommendations from the Ministry of HEALTH that it is advisable for patients who have been ill to be vaccinated after six months,” he said.

Protsenko noted that there is no targeted antiviral treatment, a drug that would suppress the spread of the virus. “Treatment is changing, but this is not a treatment for the virus, but for the complications that it causes,” the HEAD physician said.

In the scientific journal The Lancet, a study was published, according to which people over 65 years of age are more at risk of contracting the coronavirus again. “We found that the level of protection in the population is 80% or higher in those under 65 years of age and approximately 47% in those aged 65 years and older,” the material specifies. Scientists noted that such data can be explained by age-related changes in the immune system of older people, the so-called immune aging.
