The CORONAVIRUS could become a seasonal disease by autumn, Denis Protsenko, chief physician of hospital No. 40 in Kommunarka, said in an interview with RTVI.
“I would really like that next season – October-November – we will start with covid as a seasonal infection, and not as a pandemic,” Protsenko said.
He recalled that the world has repeatedly experienced pandemics, and this experience has shown that pandemics have turned into seasonal diseases in two or three years. But earlier, humanity did not have such a tool to fight viruses as vaccination, the HEAD physician continued. Thanks to her, in the future it will be possible to control outbreaks of coronavirus in the same way as it happens with the flu, he said.
WHO allowed the end of the pandemic in Europe after the “omicron” Society
Protsenko called the Omicron strain, which is spreading in RUSSIA, softer than previous strains of coronavirus. According to him, the Delta strain was the most aggressive. The two strains differ not only in course, but also in the incubation period: for "omicron" it is two to three days, while for "delta" and its predecessor, "alpha", this period was seven to nine days.
