Credit Suisse chairman resigns over COVID violations

In December, the holding conducted an internal investigation into Credit Suisse chairman's violations of covid measures, in particular quarantine, REUTERS wrote. On Monday it was announced that he was retiring.

Antonio Horta-Osorio, chairman of the board of Switzerland's second-largest financial holding Credit Suisse, has resigned following an internal investigation commissioned by the board of directors, the company said in a release. He has been in this position for less than a year.

“I regret that a number of my actions led to difficulties for the bank and compromised my ability to represent the organization <...>. Therefore, I believe that my resignation is in the interests of the bank and its shareholders at this critical time,” Horta-Osorio said in the message.

At the end of 2021, Reuters wrote that Horta-Osorio violated anti-coronavirus measures twice: in July in the UK and in November in Switzerland.

The agency, citing sources, claimed that a preliminary investigation conducted within the holding revealed that Horta-Osorio was present at the Wimbledon final in July during a visit to the UK, while the country's rules required him to be in quarantine at that time.
